10 element bio

        Queen Noor
Lisa Najeek Halaby was born in 1951 in Washington D.C.
Lisa’s father’s name was Najeeb and her mother’s name was Doris. Her mother was European and her father Middle Eastern. Her father was an aviator airline exec. and government official. He served as deputy assistant secretary of defense in the Truman administration. Lisa had 2 siblings following her. A brother, Christian, and a sister, Alexa. Lisa’s parents divorced in 1977.
Growing up, Lisa moved around a lot because of her father and his job. She attended National Cathedral School from 4thgrade to 8th, then for a short period of time she went to Chapin School in New York, and went to graduate from concord academy in Massachusetts. She found politics extremely interesting growing up and enjoyed watching the news.

She grew up moving a lot to different states. Her parents fought a lot growing up as well. She has the experience of having a privileged upbringing. She attended exclusive schools. Her parents eventually divorced, which might have been for the better. They moved apart from each other. She had kind of an unstable childhood and never had the opportunity in staying in one place.

Lisa had many hobbies and interests. She was half Middle Eastern and half European, but affiliated herself more with her Arab roots. She became increasingly interested with her ethnicity. When she grew older she played an active role in promoting international exchange and understanding of Arab and Muslim culture and politics, Arab western relations and conflict- prevention and recovery issues.
She was interested in changing the world. She, just like her husband, had wanted peace in the Middle East. She tried to work in the Arab world and focused more on national development.

As a kid, Lisa was very into politics and would watch the news. This one time her and her grandmother were watching the news and something about MLK being shot and killed came on the news. Lisa was so upset by the tragedy and expected her grandmother to be too, but realized her grandmother had no care in the world for this situation. Lisa ran to her room and locked her self in there for hours crying. She was upset at the fact that her grandmother didn’t care about such things as she did. It hurt Lisa to think that.

After she graduated, Lisa moved to Australia. She worked for a firm that specialized in planning new towns. She became increasingly interested more in the Middle East then ever before. She got another job offer and accepted with no hesitation from a British architectural firm. She was employed in Tehran, Iran. She became director of facilities planning and design.

Coraline: The Review

Coraline, the 3D stop motion animated movie, is a must see movie. It features some popular actresses such as DakotaFanning and Terri Hatcher. It’s the perfect Halloween spooking movie for those kids into getting a little creeped out .It may be horrifying even to children. Coraline is based on the book. It tells the story of a girl who goes through obstacles that make her appreciate her parents more.
Coraline gets trapped in a parallel universe, She was led into this portal by a talking cat in her dreams. This is where she meets her alternative mother and father. She ends up returning night after night back to her "other home". She becomes to adore this world because it is different from hers. Her neighbors are actually interesting and her parents put all they attention is placed on her just like she's been craving. Everything is going right in her dream life. Other mother offers for her to stay forever if she would like, the only down side of this was that she wanted to sew buttons on her eyes to match the ones on her other' family. Coraline gets frightened by even the thought and tries to escape back to her real home.Other mother does't like that idea of Coraline escaping back and traps her in this virtual alternative world and Coraline feels as if she will never return. She goes through a series of obstacles that gets her finally back home and makes her appreciate her family. This movie teaches morals to children to appreciate what they have and don't take things for granted.
An overview of the content in this movie are violence, sex/nudity, language, alcohol, drugs,  and bad disrespectful behavior. Not much a movie for young children. It shows more young adult type of scenes.
The detail put into this movie that you see in the behind the scenes footage are pretty much bind blowing. By just changing the expression on the face of the character takes times to making a strand of her hair on her head. They put so much effort into this movie. Without Coraline's signature  blue hair to her vibrant colored clothing. It's bewildering to see all the

effort.Even hiring special people just to make the small clothing for Coraline and the rest of the

cast to wear. The scene in Coralines other home when she is outside in the garden that her

other father had made for was made all by hand. It had to be all specific colors and

arrangement. It's a breathtaking scene to watch knowing how everything was put together.

Coraline is defiantly recommended to any age group. I can see it being a classic. I don't

think movies out lately compare to this one

Calling all Gleeks

Glee's finally back after having to say a sad goodbye to our graduating members, who are off to bigger and better things. With the help of the producers and creators such as Ryan Murphy, Glee has been made into a very successful show. It shows some of the real life obstacles that teenagers these days have to go through. Even though the characters we obsess over have left McKinley High there are some new cast members to fill in, in these big shoes on season 4 of Glee. These new stars include Melissa Benoist who plays Marley, the lunch lady's daughter , and the new "bad ass" ,  Jacob Artist, who plays Puck's long lost half brother,Jake, The newly graduates are starting a whole new life. They all are doing their own things. Finn broke up with Rachel Berry because She got excepted into NYADA and he didn't. He didn't want to ruin her dreams of Broadway. Mercedes received a record deal and moved to LA  to start her career. Rachel moved to New York to go to school and make it on to Broadway. Kurt is stuck in the past and can't leave McKinley. Quinn decided to go to Yale. Brittany couldn't graduate high school because she had terrible grades. That's all we learned about the old cast members. This show would have been better if they showed exactly what happened to everyone instead of  just a few of them. It was a bittersweet episode. Overall I would have to say that it wasn't the best premier of a season show.
